The SurEels: The Early Years Takes Top Prize

(Largo) —Timothy J. Lambert, a man claiming to be called Chet Mozart, has won First Place in Animation & Multimedia for The SurEels: The Early Years, at the Spring 2009 Student Art Exhibition in Marlboro Gallery, Prince George’s Community College.

The "mockuspective" follows the early career of 60s-era cartoon-dog rock group The SurEels. The four-minute piece begins with a 1964 appearance on The Margaret Dumont Show, where they performed a spot-on cover of the Kinks’ It’s Alright. We see the famous ‘Dave falls to the tarmac’ incident from the group’s airport arrival that same year. Also covered: the group members’ side projects. The Early Years finishes with The SurEels on the verge of the Psychedelic Era, in groovy colour singing The Move’s The Duke Of Edinburgh’s Lettuce.

The SurEels consist of: DOGUE (vocals, guitar), DAVE (bass, vocal), CLODAGH (guitar, vocal) and MICK (drums, percussion, shouting)

The SurEels: The Early Years is Mozart’s second First Place, following the DOGUE adventure East Of The Sun And West Of Uranus, which won the prize in Spring of 2007.

Chet Mozart currently resides in a state of Prepostrosity.

And So, as 1894 Draws To a Close...

holy ca-RAP, I've gotten off-schedule!

Well, I WAS going to wish for an end to war in the fast-approaching twentieth century, but, I think we all know how that went...

SHEMP for VICTORY!

Some of us waved signs with pictures of Shemp on them, and some of us made the pictures into masks and wore them, all of us proudly in support of the same goal:

SHEMP FOR VICTORY!

Cute Li'l Fuzzy Bears All Covered In Onions

Once upon a time, there was a girl with a sparkle in her eye, a song in her heart, and a tattoo on her ass. It was of a bear. A cute li'l fuzzy bear all covered in onions. There had been another bear in the big book of tattoo samples, a large brown bear on a unicycle juggling truck tires. He wasn't as cute as the one with the onions, though, so she felt her choice was clear.

She left Asbury Park, New Jersey with her mother in the wake of the burning of the Morro Castle. "They took too damned long to clear that hulk off the beach," she'd always said.

She also had a tattoo on her ankle, but I never got a good look at it.

Happy New Year's, by the way

Mine's been fine. I've spent most of it so far getting over the cold I had the last two weeks of 2008. more later.

"2009, eh? My God, " he said in a John Cleese voice. "What do you suppose they get for something like that? Still, it's good for the Hedgehogs."

('Hedgehogs' is capitalized here as it's the name of a group. -ed.)

Yeah, a group of Hedgehogs. Hey, when's Spacehog getting back together?
